More pc ranting

When I built the current rig, it was sort of slap-dash & last minute as it was unforeseen. This also meant I cut a couple corners to save some cash on it by going with manufacturers other than my standard ones; like using Corsair instead of Crucial for the RAM, Abit instead of Asus for the mobo, etc… All of this went into an original Antec Sonata, which is designed for silent operation and was not meant for parts that are this hot. The case that preceded it was pulling around 220CFM (cubic feet per minute) of air flow through the case while this one is around 100. So it’s not really a wonder that parts are overheating when you look at it from that perspective... especially since the PC’s new location doesn’t get a lot of air movement either.

So I am rough-speccing out a new rig, slated to be built at the beginning of next month.

So far it looks like this:
Case: Lian Li Lancool PC-K7B (slightly larger than the Sonata w/ 3 12cm fans)
PSU: Either: SeaSonic M12 SS-700HM, Enermax Modu82+ EMD525AWT, or a Super Flower SF-650P14HE.
3GB of Crucial DDR3 1066 (PC8500)
Intel Core i7-920 (2.66GHz)

And that's all I have s far... The video card & hdd's will come over from the current system (should be fine in the cooler environment) and I can't list specific mobos or RAM packages until the actual release. I'll have to snag a low-end video card and a bang/buck hdd to give the system to my parents. I may or may/not get an after-market CPU cooler, I want to see what the new thermals are like; the stock coolers are now much larger be default anyway, so I'm less concerned.

In the mean time I'm going to modify the case ventilation slightly in order to try and keep the case from pulling in warm air from the back.

That still sounds pretty sweet.. but I would have went with the ASUS mobo especially with all the gaming you do! Corsair instead of Crucial is no real biggy though.

I've always had crazy luck with Crucial ram, my last rig I had it overclocked by like 30% for over 2 years without a hitch.
